Konnichiwa.
I've just recently watched the first episode of Persona: Trinity Soul, and I'm so confused that I'm wondering if there's anyone on this site who's played Persona 3 and can fill me in on any details.
Please try to keep any major plot details (character names, etc.) to a minimum, as I might consider buying the game in the future.

I can pitch in too. Game's pretty slick, and since you're into anime and RPGs you can't go far wrong with it.
General story is thus; Main Character transfers to his new school, and discovers that there is a 13th hour after midnight during which everything stops, except for a select few people (It's called the Dark Hour or something similarly corny). Also, an enormous tower - Tartarus - appears during this hour. Monsters appear during this hour, and you're in a team of folks who experience it. Good times ensue. Date girls, befriend classmates, grind levels, fuse Persona, there's plenty of cool stuff to do here.
Also the soundtrack is pretty sweet. I'd say pick up the game, play it through, and if you're interested in the story then watch the anime. If you're still interested in the game, then you can pick up Persona 4 afterwards, which I've not played but I have heard it is just as awesome if not more so.

The thing about the anime is that it's set 10 years after the events of Persona 3, hence I need help comprehending who the characters are and what relevance the turned-inside-out-highschoolers has. The thing about picking up the game is, I'm currently playing through Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days for PSP and that's eating up my free time as it is. So, I'd like to try and get far enough through that game so that I'm satisfied before picking up another. Also, the most recent news from NIS America (American branch of the people who made Disgaea) is that they're now bringing some new anime to western shores. Their current release list is as follows: Toradora (awesome!) Persona: Trinity Soul (0_0;) PandoraHearts Our Home's Fox Deity ( ...might be worth a look...)

It's pretty difficult to just fill you in on everything - there's bound to be things in the anime that you'll only spot if you've played the game. It's easy to make more time for another RPG, just cut down on studies and sleep. Alternatively, just set that anime aside for the moment and watch something else.
Good to see more anime coming over here, regardless of what it is. Who knows, if they keep this up I might actually have to give these people some of my money. I'm sure I almost bought something when I went to Forbidden Planet, but I can't for the life of me think what it was.

"just cut down studies and sleep." I would if there was any more to cut down on.
I think I might have to do the second option - which is to put that anime aside for now (I'll probably just wait for the DVD's).
I have a principal when it comes to anime/manga: If it doesn't look like the series will be released in English any time soon, then I allow myself to watch the (free/illegal) fansub. If I know for a fact that the series will be released soon, then I just bide my time for the English release. This is the main reason why I'm NOT watching Shippuden or the most recent episodes of Bleach. This is also the reason why I AM watching FMA: Brotherhood.
I might give Our Home's Fox Deity a fansub demo to see if it's worth watching...
